Have you guys ever heard of the Aloha state? Well if you haven’t it’s Hawaii, I just got back from this wonderful place and it was the best trip I’ve been on! If you have ever wanted to go or are planning on going to Hawaii I have a bunch of things for you to try or think about trying!

First up we’ve got Pearl Harbor, I’m sure you guys have heard of World War two and what it entailed, this was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. We started by touring the USS Bowfin, this was one of the submarines. As we walk down the stairs you see huge torpedoes and on top of them were beds where the crewmates slept. The bathrooms were just like a little hole in the wall with a toilet, they had kitchens and nicer places to stay for the higher staff. We walk up to the deck of the submarine and there are some pretty cool and interesting things to see like this thing disguised as part of the ship because no one else knew about it so they covered it every time they docked somewhere. Then we rode a bus to our next tour which was the USS Missouri. This was by far so amazing, I got to stand where they signed the surrender and ended the second world war.

Next, we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. This was by far my favorite part of the whole trip. My parents went to Hawaii a few years ago by themselves and did this too and they had this amazing lady Mellisa show them around, and they got her to also show us around! We started by doing a bunch of activities, like canoeing, hula dancing, Maori stick game, and weaving. My favorite part was the comedy shows, they were so much fun. We lastly went off to eat dinner and watch a little show about the last queen of Hawaii. They cooked a whole pig and the food was really good. We then went to the late-night show called “The Breath of Life”. It sounds weird but it was so interesting. Then the next day we went to a mermaid cave with Melissa and had fun with her for one last day.

Lastly, I have some fun little things we did. The last few days were on Oahu the waves were massive and we got to watch surfers and people bodyboard. It was so cool and pretty watching the sunset and surfers at the same time, it was crazy how young some of the kids looked too. We also went to Hanauma Bay which was a government-protected snorkeling area. I didn’t snorkel much but I got a good sunburn, we saw some crazy big fish and they were all so beautiful. The last day we were there right before we left we went to the Pacific National Cemetery where Grant F Timmerman was buried after the war, my elementary school was named after him so it’s awesome we got to see that!

I loved Hawaii and I hope anyone gets to visit it one day. These are definitely some of the more fun things on the island of Oahu, and you could research more about these if you would like to learn more about pearl harbor or any other things I had mentioned. If you do look at some of these things as they say I Hawaii Aloha!
