NFL Season Review
March 8, 2022
This NFL season was a very thrilling one. There were emotional outbreaks in the middle of a game, 13 last-second, game-tying drives, and a couple of all-time greats hanging up their cleats and heading into retirement. In this story there will be information about the 2021-2022 NFL season.
The first topic I am going to talk about is NFL games; big wins and shocking wins and loses. None of the games will be from the Playoffs, just from the regular season. The first of 2 games I am talking about is Chiefs vs. Bengals week 16. In this game the Chiefs were leading most of the game but they ended up giving the game up in the last quarter and Evan Mcpherson hit the game winning field goal for the Bengals. The last game I am talking about is Buccaneers vs Patriots week 4. This week 4 game might not have been the most thrilling game on paper, but this was the game where Tom Brady returned to Foxborough. The Bucs seemed to have this game wrapped up but the Pats scored 10 points in the 4th quarter to make it a close game. The Pats comeback was held short as time ran out on them and the Bucs won.
The second topic I am talking about is Amazing Plays. I am going to list 3 plays that I think were amazing and I am going to rate them out of 10. Play number 1 is Derrick Henry 76 yard touchdown run against the Bills. On this play Henry broke tackles, made defenders miss and he ran 76 yards. I rate this play 8/10. Play number 2 is Daniel Jones one handed catch. On this play Daniel Jones the Giants quarterback made an amazing one handed catch on a trick play. He made the catch with a defender coming right at him about to hit him and knock him to the ground. I rate this play 9/10. Play number 3 is Rondale Moore amazing sideline catch between defenders. On this play Rondale Moore was deep down the field and wasn’t really open, but Kyler Murray threw it to him anyway. He made an outstanding toe tap sideline catch that was almost intercepted by the defender, but Moore came down with the ball. I rate this play a 9/10.
The third and final topic I am talking about is the NFL Playoffs. The NFL Playoffs were filled with great games, great plays, and very dumb plays. First thing I am talking about is the 13 second drive. On “the drive” the Chiefs were down 3 to the Bills and they had to get at least 40 yards to get Harrison Butker into field goal range. They did this by getting 2 big yard passing plays, and the Butker hit the tying field goal. The next thing to talk about is Dak Prescott sliding in the middle of the field with 9 seconds left and no time outs. This was probably one of the worst plays ever. The Cowboys were losing to the 49’ers and they needed to score. They had used all of their timeouts already and had to keep getting out of bounds to keep their season alive. On this play Dak Prescott ran the ball down the middle of the field and slid and then time ran out. With this the Cowboys season was over. The last thing I am talking about is The GOAT’s final game. This game was the Buccaneers vs Rams. The Rams looked like they were running away with the game but Tom Brady led the Bucs back into the game and then they tied the game up. But, after the the Bucs tied it, Mathew Stafford and Cooper Kupp connected for a big play to set Matt Gay up in field goal range. The Rams ended up winning the game and that was how the GOAT’s career came to an end.
This NFL season was a great one, the offseason has barely started, and we have already seen some all-time greats leave the game and go into retirement. The Rams won the Super Bowl. The Jags got the 1st overall pick for the second straight year. Tom Brady retired. I am really hoping that the NFL offseason goes by fast so I can see the NFL without Tom Brady for the first time in my life.
