Event: Kansas City Royals Game

The Kauffman Stadium after the Royals won!

Amiyah Russell, Jr. Reporter

This summer, if you want to take your family to a baseball game, and want to support the Kansas City Royals, you should come down to Kansas City, Missouri and see a KC Royals game at the Kauffman Stadium. “The average price of a ticket is around $38.00, hot dogs are about $5.00,[and] beer is $7.00” according to Money Watch. So if you just had one person it’s about $50.00, and, compared to the Boston Red Socks that’s really cheap. Just one ticket to a Red Socks game is about $55.00, that’s without food or drinks!  Going to a KC Royals game is way more affordable than going to a Boston Red Socks game. That’s why I asked two of my friends about their experiences there, what they would change, and if they would go again.

When I asked my friend, Emma Weast, “How was your first time was at the K?” She responded with, “My first experience was probably a while back when my dad got free tickets from his job. I was maybe nine or ten? Well, when we arrived, there were people who directed us to our parking spot. We got our things, and before we got to go in, we had to go through security systems. My parents put everything they had in tubs and had people check to see if we were bringing anything we shouldn’t, in. We got by with no problems, and found our seats. Then I interrogated her about the stadium itself and she responded with, “There were lots of people, and it was difficult not to get lost (since I was younger). We got to our seats, and since the game hadn’t started yet went to get food. It was fun and I got Dippin’ Dots. I definitely recommend them.” I stated that I agree that it’s really easy to get lost but you can just go find one of the security guards and ask for help. But if you’re with a group or an adult try to stay with them as best as you can.

I then asked, “If you could change one thing about Kauffman Stadium what would it be?” Weast replied with, “ If I could change one thing, it would be the bases. I mean, from far up, they look hard to run, but they [the spaces between the bases] are actually very short. I’ve run the bases, and I think they should make them longer.” I hadn’t really thought about it, but I think that’d be a good idea to make the game more intense and interesting! I inquired Weast for the last time,“Would you go again, and why?”, she replied, “I would go again because it’s really fun. I would bring along friends too, and we could watch the game, go shopping and have lots of fun!” A Kauffman Stadium there are lots of stores, some of the merchandise you can get are, water bottles, bobbleheads, jerseys and so much more! There is not just merch stores, there are candy stores, concessions, and food joints.

After I completed my session with Emma, I asked some questions to Arianna Hamilton. I began, “How was your first time at the Kauffman Stadium?” Hamilton replied, “I had a great time. The players did really good. My mom and I were really excited because it was our first time going to a Royals game together. It was my first baseball game. It was a success. I went about 3 or 4 years ago.” When I went to my first Royals game it was  3 or 4 years ago! I wonder if we went to the same game? I wasn’t sure if the Royals won, because we left during the 7th inning.

Anyways, “If you could change one thing about the Kauffman Stadium, what would you do?” Arianna simply stated, “I would change the seating. That way the seats are more comfortable.” I totally agree. But when the seats start making my back hurt, I  just say I need to go to the bathroom so I can just walk around for a bit. My last question is, “Would you go again, and why?” Hamilton told me, “I would go again because I had an amazing time. The food was good, and the Royals won.” When I go to Royals games I only get Dippin’ Dots and a drink but I believe you that it’s good. I also agree. Whenever I go to a KC Royals game I have the best of time!

I think not enough people have honest opinions about the Kauffman Stadium games to go. That’s why I asked my close friends to give me their honest opinions about Kansas City Royals games. Every time I go to a Royals game I always want to go again. My six-year-old brother who doesn’t like to watch sports, loves going to Kansas City Royals games. My mom loves just watching the game, my brother loves yelling, and jumping up with the crowd, and I love the environment and the Dippin’ Dots. There will always be something for everyone no matter what age at a Kansas City Royals game!
