This is a story telling you all the things you need to know about the Renaissance Festival

The Renaissance Festival happens once a year, every year. The Renaissance Festival is based on a culture that was founded in Europe. The time period it is based on is 14th – 17th Century. The Renaissance Festival in Kansas is held in Kansas City. George Coulam currently owns the Renaissance Festival.

Who Made The Renaissance Festival?

David Coulam and George Coulam are the founders of  the Renaissance Festival.  According to Google, “The TRF was founded in 1974 by brothers, George and David Coulam, on an abandoned strip mining site in what is now Todd Mission, Texas.”.   George Coulam is currently 62 years old.(My resources don’t say how old David Coulam is.) Currently the owner is George Coulam and has owned the land since 1974, which means he has owned the land for 46 years.

What Is It Based off of?

The Renaissance Festival is based on a culture that was founded in Britten. This culture lasted from the 14th – 17th century. According to Google, “The English Renaissance can be hard to date precisely, but for most scholars, it begins with he Rise of The Tudor Dynasty (1485–1603) and reaches its cultural summit during the 45-year reign of the final Tudor monarch, the charismatic Elizabeth I (1558–1603).”. In Egland the renaissance era was called “The Elizabethan Era”. Some people around the world celebrate this festival after a harsh winter in the belief it would restore the land and the new crops would come.

Why Was It Made?

The creators of the festival George Coulam and his brother David Coulam made the festival for families and kids to go learn about what it was like in “The Elizabethan Era”. At the festival stuff like jousting, juggling, axe and knife throwing, and comedy shows are entertainment. In the festival area there are food places and they cook the food the way they did during the 14th-17th century. Each weekend has a different theme for people to experience.  So, the Renaissance Festival was made to teach what it was like in “ The Elizabethan Era”.

Interview

I interviewed some people that went to the Renaissance Festival in the past and here are the interviews.

I have Mrs. Acevedo here with me and I am going to ask her some questions.

Q: What are some things you did at the Renaissance Festival?

A: I just liked walking around, looking at the shops and every once in a while there is an entertainment area I would watch. When I would come near a food area I would always get the  Bread Bowl Soup, and the henna tattoos. I love gettin the henna tattoos.

Q: What was your favorite thing you did and why?

A: I would have to say the henna tattoos. I just love the designs the artist can make, and that it’s not permanent but it will last longer than a stick on tattoo.

Q: Last question. How was your time there?

A: I love going to the Festival, but the dirt paths bother me. The dirt paths bother me because if it rains it’s going to be muddy and I just don’t like the feeling of sinking.

Next up I have Katie here with me and I am going to ask the same questions.

Q: First question. What are some things you did at the Renaissance festival?

A: We ate then went around and bought some stuff. Near the end we watched a play.

Q: What was your favorite thing you did? Why?

A: I liked the fairy mushroom place, But my favorite thing I got was a tail. This was my favorite thing because it’s my clearest memory of it.

Q: Last question. How was your time there? Why?

A: It was entertaining most of the time, but it got embarrassing at times and got hard to keep up with.

Every person has a unique experience at the Renaissance Festival.  With the themed weekends, the endless entertainment, the arts, and the food, there are many things to enjoy.  A person could even go every weekend for the seven weekends it is open and enjoy it all.
