Do you ever wonder what people find so interesting about teddy bears? Why do people love them so much?  Maybe you’ve even wondered who and why were they invented in the first place? Well, according to this website, teddy bears were invented in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt by Morris Michtom and his wife Rose. It all started on November 4, 1902 near Onward, Mississippi when Theodore was invited to a hunting trip with the Mississippi’s Governor Andrew H. Longino. Unlike the other people in the group, Theodore had not found a bear. Then his accidents, led by Holt Collier, cornered a bear and tied it to a tree. They then told Theodore to shoot it and he refused seeing as it was unsportsmanlike. This news spread through articles all over the country. So a man named Clifford Berryman decided to make a cartoon out of this. Then soon enough another man named Morris Michtom, a candy shop owner, saw it and had an idea. So he and his wife Rose, since they both also make stuffed animals, decided to create a teddy bear and dedicate it to the president who refused to shoot a bear. Now teddy bears are very popular in toy companies and everyone can remember the president who refused to shoot a bear.
