State Gymnastics Meet

Have you ever been in a state gymnastics meet? Well I have. When I went to my first state meet, I competed in trampoline, tumbling, and double mini.

Before we got to the gymnasium, I had to get up around  5:30 to 6:00 o’clock to start getting prepared. It all started with getting up and getting something to eat before the meet. After I ate, I needed to start getting ready. My mom does not like to do my hair for meets because it’s hard to keep my hair tight and together and look nice. Since she didn’t want to do my hair, her best friend said she would do my hair.  We headed to the William Allen White Auditorium.

We arrived at the  Auditorium and got my schedule for when I would be competing and what event I would be competing at that time. I  competed in trampoline first and after about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I finally competed, on Tumbling and then it was just another half hour before I could go compete, my last event which was Double Mini. I ended up getting 8th place on Trampoline, 5th on Tumbling and 4th place on Double Mini!

After I got all of my medals and finished competing, my mom and I went to go get ice-cream from Braum’s . When I got home I was so excited to call and tell everyone how good I did at state! I was proud of myself and I felt that I did the best that I could even though I was really scared. I did my best for as nervous as I was.

Overall, my first ever state competition went great. I may not have gotten first, but I did really good. I was really scared and nervous about doing something wrong or just messing up. I hope that you learned that even if you are scared to just go for it have fun and you will do alright!
