5 Forgotten Countries You Need To Know About

Around the world, there are 195 countries, many of which, are not known to the larger countries.  A lot of them are even considered paradise and maybe better!

Nauru

Nauru is a beautiful country located in the Pacific off the coast of Australia in the general north-east direction. The approximate population in 2017 is 11,359. Nauru is the smallest island country in the world! The size on the potato-shaped island is a tiny 8.2 square miles. That is super small! Even though this country is small, it used to be one of the richest countries in the world because of phosphate mining, but today the mines are abandoned. The landscape consists of coral reefs surrounding it, beautiful sandy beaches, and green cliffs.

Vanuatu

Vanuatu is located in the Southwestern Pacific Ocean near Papua New Guinea, consisting of many different islands. The capital city is Port Vila located on the island of Efate. This country actually has official languages which are French, English, and Bislama. The approximate population for this country is 270, 402. The national anthem is Yumi, Yumi, Yumi which translates to We, We, We. Vanuatu gained their independence from France and the United Kingdom on July 30, 1980. This country consisted of about 82 relatively small islands with volcanic origins. Out of these, 65 islands are inhabited.

Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire)

Ivory Coast is a small country in western Africa. It is beautiful, but hold of on visiting right now, because they are in the middle of a civil war. Their population is roughly 20.6 million. The main language spoken, is French because this used to be French Territory, meaning they were owned by the French. There are two major religions here and they are Christianity and Islam. The capital definitely has a unique name which is Yamoussoukro.

The country of Kuwait is located in the Middle East, between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. This is also a coastal country, touching the Persian Gulf to the east. The currency here is the Kuwaiti Dinar, which comes in coin or paper form. The capital is Kuwait City. This country was not well known until recently invaded.

Malta is an absolutely breathtaking country located in Europe south of Italy. These three islands, Malta, Gozo, and Comino, are honestly some of the most beautiful locations on this list. The capital is Valletta located on the largest island. The population for this country in 436, 947. The two official languages are English and Maltese. The British ruled Malta until the year 1964 when they gained independence. Lastly, just a fun fact is that there are a lot of sunken WWII ships along the coastline.

Around the world there are tons of countries. A lot of them are very small, but they pack a punch. All of these countries are definitely unique, beautiful and wonderful all wrapped together. I would say that these countries deserve to be known, because they are amazing!
