Have you ever loved a movie so much that you can’t stop talking about it? Well, today I will be reviewing my personal favorite movie of all time, 10 Things I Hate About You.
The first detail about this movie is that it seems as if women are changing for men and it shows problematic portrayals of feminism.Kat usually makes fun of her sister since she shows that she has feelings but at the end of the movie she was the one who let her guard down and took back a guy who did her bad. This might be offensive to some women because this movie shows that women need boyfriends, when the audience might have a completely different opinion.
The second detail about this movie is that it’s very real with you. And what I mean by that is that there were some real connections between the cast which made the movie 10 times better and made it feel more dazzling. Usually once people have a real connection, it makes more of a trustworthy performance. And creates a safe place where you could see how in love they are. Kat and Patrick (the main characters) show this really well with no doubt.
The third and final detail is that most people like this movie for its fascinating Shakespearean-inspired script. The script was called The Taming Of The Shrew. They keep the same plot in 10 Things I Hate About You. And also keep the same theme, like focusing on teen romance. Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith (the screenwriters) used Shakespeare’s birthplace Stanford for the last name of the main characters.
My overall impression of this movie was that I absolutely love it, and I would 100% recommend you watch this whimsical movie. A piece of information I learned was that in the famous poem the main character didn’t have to cry, but did, which showed genuine emotion. Click here to see the trailer!
