  1. Did you know that the average person will 25 years of their life asleep?

Think about it, if infants sleep for 16 hours a day. Well, there’s 17,520 hours in two years, and 16 hours a day would be about 11,520 hours sleeping. Toddlers require at least 12 hours of sleep. There are 26,280 hours in 3 years, and toddlers need 12 hours, so that ends up being 13,140 hours plus the infant years is 24,660 hours! Now with kids 3-6, they also need 12 hours of sleep, so it’s going to end up being 21,900 hours. With kids aged 7-12 they need 10.5 hours of sleep, there’s 48,300 hours in 5 years, and they spend 19,162.5 hours of it, just sleeping. By the age of just 12 years old a child has already spent 4.6875 years sleeping. I’m not going to write any further but just know that people spend a long time sleeping. (Sorry for all the numbers)

Did you know that all the blinking in one day equates to having your eyes closed for 30 minutes?

The average person blinks about 15 to 20 times a minute. That adds up to about 1,200 times an hour, which also adds up to be 28,800 times a day! The average blink is about 3/10th or 4/10th of a second, so blinking about 4 times is equivalent to 1 second of blinking. So just blinking 28,800 times is equal to 30 minutes.

Did you know that a one minute kiss can burn up to 2 calories?

Kissing can be a key part of a good relationship, but have you ever wondered if it benefits your health? Guess what, kissing burns calories! Almost anything you do will burn calories, like standing burns more calories than sitting. Also, did you know that simply bouncing your leg can burn up to 350 calories?

Did you know that .5% of people have an extra rib?

An extra rib or a cervical rib is a rare disease, that can occur in either gender and only .5% of people have. Having an extra rib can’t kill you, but it can cause pain such as compressing of the brachial plexus nerves. This can cause pain or pins and needles in your arm on the side with the cervical rib.

Did you know that you burn more calories eating celery than celery contains?

One 7.5” by 8” celery stick contains only 6 calories and the thermic effect; or, the energy it takes to chew, swallow, and digest the celery; is about 15% of the foods caloric value, so, if you were to eat 2 stalks that contain a total amount of 12 calories, you would burn close to those 12 calories just processing the celery.

In conclusion, the average person spends 25 years of their life asleep, all the blinking you do in one day, is equal to having your eyes closed for 30 minutes. A one minute kiss can burn up to 2 calories, and last but not least, eating celery burns more calories than the actual celery contains. My favorite weird fact was that a minute kiss can burn 2 calories. I think it’s weird because I didn’t know that kissing could burn calories, let alone 2.
