Turkey Hunting

Have you ever been turkey hunting? Well I have. I go every spring. There are two seasons for turkey. There is one in the fall and spring. Me and my dad always go in the spring because they are more active. Now I am going to tell you about last year’s hunting season.

Whenever it is almost turkey season, I always wash me and my dad’s clothes and make sure that it fits me. So, after that is done me and my dad go looking for turkeys to see where we are going to set. We also look for tracks in the mud.

One turkey season me and my dad went out and the first time we saw a ton of turkeys but we were sitting on an edge of a field so the turkeys were about 75 yards away. So, the second time we went we went to the side where the turkeys were. We saw a ton but did not get one.

On the last hunt, this time my mom went with us, and we went extra early to get set up. Me and my dad were both calling for a turkey and then we saw one one. He came close but I just couldn’t see him so I could not shoot. But the turkey went down the field so me and my dad went down the creek (it just rained so it was really full and walked really slowly and then we came back up from the creek). Then we army crawled until I saw the turkey. Then lined up my shot and fired. I hit it! We let it rest before we took it back home.

That was the hunt. We brought home and cleaned it up. My mom had a blast; so did me and my dad. Here is a video of turkey calling. That was my first turkey too. So, I had really fun and it was fun to spend time with my parents for this hunt!
