Have you ever watched anime? I bet you have and you didn’t even know it.  Pokemon is a popular anime that has even been made into a game: Pokemon Go.  Most people, though, think Pokemon is a cartoon.  That’s not the case!

What Is Anime? Anime is short for animation.  Animation is everywhere!  I bet you’ve watched an anime or two, even if you didn’t realize it.  Most people in the United States think anime is Japanese cartoons.  However, anime is not just animation created in Japan.  It is any animation, because anime is short for animation.

The bulk of anime does come from Japan, but it has also been dubbed for many other countries.  On the other hand, some countries have their own anime.  In America, Animaniacs is a very well known anime.  In Japan, Sword Art Online is a popular anime. In France, Miraculous Ladybug was created, and it has been dubbed in English for America.

Why should someone watch an anime?  Anime is entertaining!  There are more genres of anime made in Japan than those here in America.  Romance, action, shonen, mythical creatures, and horror are just a few you can find.  These animes are also represented in books, but watching the anime on television provides more detail.

Now that you know a little more about anime, are you going to start watching it?  I enjoy watching anime every day.  If you are going to start, think about what genre you like or even what country’s anime you might start with.  You’ll never know if you like it unless you try it!      (If you do wanna watch anime from Japan go use https://www.funimation.com/ or https://www.crunchyroll.com/ . If you want to watch anime from the U.S, go to https://www.netflix.com/. If you want to watch anime from France, look-on https://www.netflix.com/ too.)
