Have you ever wondered how fast birds are or how fast squirrels are? Well, you’re in luck because that’s what I will be talking about today. This is the top 5 fastest tree animals.

5.Binturong

The binturong is a type of bear-cat that is native to South and Southeast Asia . It has a prehensile tail. It can reach up to 15 mph when running in trees. It uses its speed to get its food. One fun fact is their tail is super fluffy.

4.Squirrel

A squirrel is a common tree animal. They mainly eat nuts off of trees. Their top speed can reach up to 20 mph.  When hibernating they bury their nuts.

3.Squirrel Monkey

A squirrel monkey is a type of monkey. The tree monkeys are really smart and only use their speed to get around. They can reach up to 22 mph. They might reach higher speeds when running from a predator.

2.Patas Monkey

I know we just talked about a squirrel monkey but these two monkeys live different lifestyles. The patas monkey is able to go from not moving to 34mph. They mainly use their speed to have fun with other monkeys. They are called the dancing monkey every once in a while because they will jump up and down when excited.

1.Tree Kangaroo

The tree kangaroo is a mixture of a kangaroo, koala, sloth, monkey, and bear. The tree kangaroo is a type of omnivore. The tree kangaroo is so close to extinction that there are only a couple thousand left. The tree kangaroo uses its speed to get away from predators. The tree kangaroo speed is thought to be upwards of 44 mph, but no one knows the true speed. The tree kangaroo is so fast it’s nicknamed the ghost of the forest.

These are the top five fastest tree animals. The most interesting animal I learned about when writing was the tree kangaroo. I found it fascinating because it is almost impossible to find.
