Do you want to know what has changed about EMS over the years? Well, today I will be interviewing Mr. Hawley about what changed over the 20 years he has worked at EMS!

Q: What has changed about the school since you’ve worked here?

A: Well, there was a lot that has changed over the years I’ve worked here. One thing that changed was all the 6th graders came out. They didn’t used to be here. When I started working here, school used to start at 7:40 and got out at 2:35.

Q: Are there any new electives that have been added or changed since you’ve been here?

A: So many! We basically used to have music, facts, art, tech, and PE. Those were some electives we used to have here! There were a couple of other electives that we used to have but that was probably one of the changes we had. We also did not have competitive sports at the start of when I worked here. We didn’t have girls wrestling, bowling, golf, we just didn’t have a lot of them.

Q: Has teaching gotten harder over the years you’ve worked here as the school has changed?

A: Every year, it has provided its own challenges. You can’t be stuck as one person, you have to grow. As long as you’re willing to grow, then it is worth working here.
