Is Glaze the same thing as paint? Even though many people think it’s the same, it is not because of the fact that glaze uses minerals and fuses into the ceramic to make a permanent design on it. After the first firing, called the bisque fire, you move on to glaze the piece and when glazing wherever you put the glaze is where it will stay forever unless you take it off with a wet brush. After that step is done your ceramic goes into the second firing, called the glaze fire, which will color the final glazed piece with the mineral covered glass that was originally sand.
