Did you know that on January 15, 1967 the Green Bay Packers won the first ever NFL Super Bowl in history against the Kansas City Chiefs? The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. The first Super Bowl was at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. I will be telling you about how the Green Bay Packers are unique and amazing.
First, I’m going to be telling you about the fans of the Packers. Something that is really unique about the Packers is that they have community ownership, meaning their fans basically own the team. In 1923, the Packers community railed together and formed a publicly owned corporation. Another unique thing about the Packers is today there are more than 147,000 names on the waitlist for Packers season tickets. Fans at the top of the waitlist have been waiting for decades to get season tickets. Another unique thing about the Packers is that they travel well and often outnumber or outcheer opposing teams at away games, meaning Packers fans care a lot about their team. One of the most unique things about the Green Bay Packers’ fans is that they wear cheese hats. They wear them because the state of Wisconsin produces 26% of the country’s cheese. Another thing that Packers fans do before a game is they tailgate, which is when they bring food to grill out before the game.
Next, I’m going to tell you about how the Packers are one of the oldest franchises in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers were established in 1921 which is the 3rd oldest NFL franchise of all time, according to this link. According to Google, throughout the years that the Packers have been a franchise, their logo has changed. From 1921-1951, their logo said Green Bay, WI, below that it said 1921 football because that’s when their franchise was established. Then, from 1951-1955 it just said Packers with green font and had a football behind Packers. Their 3rd logo was a yellow football with somebody throwing a football on it. They had that logo from 1956-1961. Their 4th logo was the letter G with a green outline on the outside of it, they had that logo from 1961-1979. Their 4th logo change was a lot like their last logo, all they did was put a yellow stripe around the green part of their logo. They changed it to that in 1980 and they still have it to this day.
Next, I’m going to be telling you about my personal experience of the Green Bay Packers. My personal experience with the Packers was pretty good. I’ve been to like 3 of the home games. One of the games was really cold and my family and I all brought blankets with us so that we would stay warm. We also brought coats and hats because of how cold that game was. Other than how cold it was at the game it was really fun because it was my first ever NFL game that I went to. When I was at the game, I remember all the Packers fans were cheering really loud the whole game. Even though it was a really cold game, I thought that the experience was cool and I had a lot of fun at the game.
