Have you ever wondered why we can’t have food and drinks in class? At Emporia Middle School, we can’t have food or drinks in the classrooms, and I’m gonna tell you why. At EMS we can not have food or drinks in the classroom because we just got new carpets and we would not like to get them dirty since we just got them. Also, we don’t want to have mice or insects in the school coming in looking for food in lockers or on the ground. I interviewed Carlee Van Sickle. When asked about having drinks in class, Carlee said, “I think it’s bad because I like having food in class, and I like being able to eat whenever I want, but a good thing is that we don’t have rats and mice because we don’t have food crumbs.” There are lots of good and bad reasons that we can’t have food in class, but there are also lots of reasons why you should have food; like hours and hours of hungry kids who all they need is a fruit snack to get to the next block.
