Hello everybody! Did you know Northern Pike have an average of 300-700 teeth? This helps them eat their prey and meals! Which is why In today’s article we will be going over the *BEST* bait for three species, the catfish, bass, and panfish.
We will be starting off with the catfish!
The catfish is a species known for its whiskers. There are a variety of sub-species such as a Channel Catfish, Blue Catfish, and Flathead Catfish. They will eat meat like chicken or hot-dogs, while they prefer worms and plants. Some popular brand-name baits that catfish love are The Magic Bait Chicken Liver & Chicken Blood and meats such as hot dogs and chicken.
Next up is bass bait! Bass aren’t very picky eaters, and will almost in fact eat everything you cast. They like both bait like worms and insects, and actual lures like crankbaits and jigs. The colors they eat may vary depending on location While a mossy pond should be fished with a dark colored lure/jig, a clear pond should be fished with something more vibrant. A lure I recommend is a Yellow / Black Stripe Beetle Spin. Bass love eating Beetle Spins and they have also caught me some massive crappie!
Finally, panfish! Panfish will eat different things, depending on the weather. Panfish love worms, which is a big reason why they sell worms in the fishing aisles of stores. They have smaller mouths, meaning you need smaller hooks. Some jigs that panfish will eat are flies. While flies are used for fly fishing, you can also use them on regular rods. Panfish are known to love eating flies, and even a tiny beetle spin!
That concludes The Best Bait For Each Species! Hooks I recommend for each species,
Catfish: The Gamakatsu Octopus Circle 5/0 Bass: The Eagle Claw Classic Plain Shank Hook Panfish: Tiny hook. Come back next week for more advice for fishermen!
