Do you know the history of pickles? Well I’m going to be telling you some facts that give you a little information about the history of pickles. I’ll be giving you three facts then if you wanna know more at the end of the story i added a link to where you can find more. If you like this story as much as the last stories then check out the EMS sound for more. I don’t only have a couple stories about pickles, I also have other stories. But enough about my other stories, let’s read this one.
The first fact is “Ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra claimed pickles made her beautiful.” Cleopatra was a very important person in Ancient Egypt, she was known as the last pharaoh in Ancient Egypt. Cleopatra would wear a gold crown, a white dress, and long black hair. Like the quote says she ate pickles because she claimed they made her beautiful, she ate them with her meals added to her dietary health. She also thought they made her beautiful because they made her look young. I found this fact from this website.
The 2nd fact is “If it weren’t for pickles, Christopher Columbus might never have “discovered” America.” He rationed the pickles so his sailors wouldn’t get scurvy (a disease). Christopher Columbus was an important person for many people today. If he never found America, then a lot of people would not have a home. I found this fact from this website.
The 3rd fact is “Pickles have been around since ancient times. Some believe the first pickle was created in Mesopotamia in 2400 B.C.E. Others believe it was as early as 2030 B.C.E.” Pickles are made from cucumbers soaked in vinegar for a certain amount of time. So I wonder who made the first pickle? I found this fact from this website.
Now you know a little about our history and pickles. You should check out my next story that will be up on the sound next week. But for now If you wanna try pickles or see the other types of pickles, click on this. All of the facts that I said were from this website. See you next time.
