Have you ever wondered if you were your teacher’s favorite? Or if your teacher thinks you’re impressive? Today I’m interviewing Mr. Hulshoff (He is a science and animal science teacher on the green team) about who he believes has an outstanding student in science this year..
Q: In your opinion who is the most outstanding student in all of your classes and why?
A: I feel like Hayden Martin has been my most outstanding student. I have him in science and animal science. The young man asks questions all the time, he has an inquisitive mind, and when I ask him questions, he is very, very thoughtful and engaging, and that’s what a teacher looks for.
Q: Tell me about a time that student had impressed you?
A: I think when we had discussions on atoms, he was really, really thinking, and coming up with great questions to ask, and coming up with insights to why and how different parts worked and being discussed and why, and his inquisitive nature just impresses me.
Q: If you could give advice to 7th graders, what would it be?
A: Keep an open mind, ask questions, and don’t worry about being wrong because you learn more from when you’re wrong than from when you’re right. So ask questions, it’s okay if you’re wrong, I’m wrong all the time.
Well, there you have it folks. I really enjoyed interviewing Mr. Hulshoff, so if you get the chance to talk to him, take it. Come back next week for the next outstanding student.
