Do you ever wonder what it’s like to be a favorite person for someone, whether it was for a teacher, parent, or sibling? Today I’m interviewing Miss Vega. A theater teacher who is going to talk about Layla Harter, who is a joy to have in theater.
Q: Why would you say Layla is a joy to have in class?
A: She’s always helping others. I also love how she’s just so welcoming and inviting to other groups of people in class, and even in theater stuff.
Q: Tell me about a time that student had impressed you?
A: The high school doesn’t call shows like traditional stage managers would, but Layla, as an eighth grader, learned how to call an entire show as our stage manager, so she was doing stuff the high school hadn’t been doing yet. She was doing awesome.
Q: If you had any advice to give to middle school kids going into theater, what would you say?
A: That’s so hard, but first off, I think you should get to try it no matter what. I think it’s so fun and super good for middle schoolers because it’s at the age when you’re learning what your voice is, so theater helps you communicate those emotions. I’d also say to be super big and bold with your choices because I would rather see a super huge wrong choice rather than no choice at all.
Well, there you have it folks. If you know Layla Harter, be sure to ask about her theater arts experience. If you enjoyed this one, you will definitely enjoy the WHOLE student spotlight standouts section.
